A voyage down south
Last week Kevin's Granddad (aka Big Daddy) died and our little family headed down to North Carolina for the funeral. Although the circumstances were lousy, it was wonderful to get to see and meet all of the Lewis side of the family. Here is a four generation picture we took of Zoë, Kevin, his mom and his Grandma.

Zoë loved Kevin's Grandma and she somehow knew she needed to be extra nice to her. At the wake Zoë snuggled on Grandma's lap beside the casket while she greeted and thanked visitors. It made me all teary to see Zoë and her Great-Grandma together like that. And at the house later, who did Zoë give her biggest smiles to? Why her Great-Grandma of course!
While in North Carolina Kevin's cousin Sam, his wife Melissa and their two beautiful daughters put us up in their house. They had all the baby supplies we needed and we felt right at home. Here is a picture of Ella making Zoë smile and of Katie and Kevin mugging for the camera:

This being Zoë's first trip down south I just had to snap a pic of her at her first BBQ joint. Mmmmm...bbq and hush puppies...

Travelling with Zoë is fairly easy. She doesn't fuss any more than during a regular day at home. Our trips are just a little slower because we have to stop to feed and change her every two hours or so. However, this causes Kevin and I to take more scenic routes for easier stopping. Here we are at the end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (which was Designated "One of Seven Engineering Wonders of the Modern World" in 1965 - who knew?):

Zoë loved staring out at the waves. Perhaps it reminded her of the womb?
In other developments, Zoë's cousin Lily is rolling over!! Yipee!! Zoë is not there yet, but she sure likes her new turtle pose!

On Friday we are heading up to Massachusetts for the wedding of Kevin's friend Keith. Let's hope Zoë has not tired of travelling!
